Phil Hoon, AttorneyPhilip W. Hoon was born in December, 1953 in Chestertown, Maryland. After elementary and junior high school in Pennsylvania and Ohio, Mr. Hoon attended St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, Delaware where he was President of the school and graduated in 1972. He graduated from Duke University in 1976 with a BA in history and economics. Mr. Hoon received a JD degree from University of Maryland School of Law and was admitted to the practice of law in 1980.

After practicing law for several years in Baltimore, Mr. Hoon began and continues to practice law in Chestertown, located in Kent County on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. He is the founding managing member of Hoon & Associates, LLC.

Mr. Hoon has served on the Board of the Kent County Historical Society and the Vestry of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chestertown. He has also been on the Board of Trustees of Gunston Day School, on the Board of Directors of Preservation Maryland, on the Board of Directors of The Chesapeake Bank & Trust Company and is a former President of the Kent County Bar Association.

Mr. Hoon is a member of the Chester River Yacht & Country Club, The River Club (co-founder) and the Grasslands Hunt Club, all of Chestertown. He is also a member of The Society of the Cincinnati. Mr. Hoon’s personal interests include golfing, hunting, reading, cooking, landscaping & gardening and travel.

Mr. Hoon manages a family farm, Thornton Estate, www.thorntonestate.com located in Kent County, which includes traditional and organic farming as well as a small vineyard, and which has been family owned since the 17th century.

Mr. Hoon lives outside of Chestertown with his wife, Lisa. They have two adult sons.
